We enjoyed a wonderful weekend in the Transylvanian region of Romania. Accompanied by our friends Joco and Renata, we left Budapest at 9:00 Friday morning headed for Timisoara. There we met with Steve Michmerhuizen who with his wife and family has relocated to Romania to work with a youth ministry called New Horizons. They are also Christian Reformed World Missions partners. We also visited the Memorial Museum that remembers the revolution that began in that city in December of 1989. After dropping Steve off at his home and meeting his family, we got back on the road for another five hour drive to Joco's mother's apartment in Ludus. We took a needed break, walking around the old castle district in Alba Iulia. At one point the car thermometer recorded an outdoor temperture of 41 degrees Celsius, or 105 F.! Once we arrived in Ludus, Joco's mom was ready to feed us a delicious dinner in spite of it being 11:00 P.M.
