The Great Reformed Church in Debrecen. (The Reformation in Hungary first came to Debrecen in the early 1500's.) Standing on Calvin Square, this is the largest Reformed church in Hungary. It was built in 1821.
The Greek Orthodox Church in Miskolc was completed in 1806.
Inside the Greek Orthodox Church. The museum docent let us in for our own private tour. There had been a service earlier on Friday morning, and the smell of incense lingered in the air.
The guidebook says that this iconostasis in the Greek Orthodox Church is the most important sight in Miskolc. It was constructed in 1793 and shows 88 images of the life of Christ.
This is the Deszka Reformed Church in Miskolc. This wooden church is a building style that is found throughout northwestern Romania (Transylvania). The original church here burned down, and a few years ago residents of the city chipped in to build this replacement.
Szentlászló Catholic Church, where we attended Easter mass at eight o'clock on Saturday night, and another Easter mass on Sunday. This church was built in 1914-1918.

The ceiling artwork in St. Laszlo. This is an illustration of how Hungary views itself as a Christian state. King Stephen, the first king of Hungary, is giving Mary his crown. On the far right is Bishop Gellert. This "scene" would have taken place around 1000.
