Unofficially, after nearly four months of intensive observation, here are the percentages of bird sightings in Budapest according to type:
Feral Pigeon: 52%
Rook: 44%
Magpie: 2%
Hooded Crow: 1%
Great Tit: 1%
All others: 0%
Unofficially, here are the percentages of plumage color seen in four months of intensive observation:
Gray: 49.8%
Black: 49.3%
White: 0.86%
Olive Green: 0.03%
Yellow: 0.01%
(Some pigeons are the sort of white your white shoes become after walking the city streets for a few months--in other words, gray.)
Interestingly, this correlates with my students' clothing colors!
