Are There Worms in Budapest?

Today, it feels like spring again. The temperature was about 45 degrees and it was raining, actually drizzling. It was the kind of weather that you expect to see worms all over the pavement. We saw little stick like things in the puddles but they turned out to be sticks. So the question is are there worms in Budapest? Of course if there is only pavement there would be no place for worms to come up from. But there are little plots of grass and actually little gardens with pansies and decorative cabbage all over the place, but still no worms on the adjacent sidewalks. My theory is that worms can't get past all the cigarette butts along the sidewalks so they can't come out to die. So in this case cigarettes are saving lives.
Cindy had a "rektorial holiday" today because the water at the university was to be shut off. So the rektor declared a holiday. Tomorrow is another rektorial holiday because the Budapest city bus drivers are striking so the rektor decided that it should also be a holiday.
The staff at Trefort were invited to bring their children to get gifts from St. Miklos today. Jack was asked to play a few American Christmas songs for the kids...Jingle Bells was the favorite. It was really fun to see the staff as parents and grandparents. On Friday there will be a Christmas program that Jack will be involved in with the school choir as piano player and singer. Then we will both go to a staff Christmas dinner at the school. (Cindy is the only staff spouse invited...quite an honor.)
Meanwhile our bags are packed...we're ready to go...
