Cloudy With a Chance of Walnuts

November has been a drab, dark, and wet month. Today the sun came out for a brief time, but otherwise it has been foggy, misty, drizzly, you get the picture. Last night when we came home from Bible study it was 39 degrees and overcast. Most of the leaves have fallen from the trees. Now we see crews of people raking leaves in the public areas, creating huge piles for the trucks to pick up later. (Where do the walnuts come in?) We also have thousands of crows (rooks) flying through on their way south. They do hang around a bit, foraging in the wet leaves for food. We have both experienced walnuts falling from the sky. The crows pick them up, drop them from up above, and then return to the cracked nuts later. They seem to know that concrete streets are necessary targets.
