BRATISLAVA

We went to Bratislava which is the capital of Slovakia. It's a beautiful "Little Big City". There's a wonderful old town that is easily seen by foot in one afternoon. We stayed with Kim, Kate and Katie (fondly known as the 3 Ks to us). They are fellow ESI teachers at a school called Narnia. We took the train from Budapest to Bratislava on Friday night along with our teammate Scott and Pete. another ESIer from St. Petersberg. The two and a half hour trip was a good time to relax and reflect on our past week. The weekend was spent seeing the sights of Bratislava , trying a variety of foods and drinks and just relaxing. The biggest topic of discussion had to do with knowing God's will and whether each of us planned to come back again next year. Here are some pictures of some things we saw while we were there.

There were many interesting sculptures all over town representing specific people that made their mark in Bratislava.

Can you see who is lurking next to the papparazi?

The Greek Embassy...notice the protest marks.

After church we took the whole group on a geocache that Jack discovered in Bratislava. It took us to a nice hiking path near the K's flat.

God Speaks to Us Through His Word - Meaningful Texts

Romans 15:13 "May the God of HOPE fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with HOPE by the power of the Holy Spirit." This has become our theme verse.

1 Peter 3:15 "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the HOPE that you have." We see this verse as being the natural follow-through for Romans 15:13. If we overflow with HOPE, our students will ask us about this HOPE that they see in our lives.

Romans 10:17 "Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ." Friend John Grimberg used this verse, challenging us to be bold in our expressing our HOPE in Christ.
