Sunday Tour Guides
We enjoyed playing tour guides for Russ and Sherri Palsrok, who were in Budapest for two days. Russ is the Eurasia Director for Christian Reformed World Missions and he and Sherri had just arrived from Manila to begin a tour of various missionary visits and other contacts. After meeting them at their bed and breakfast we attended the St. Columba's Church of Scotland. We really appreciate the services there and the hymn singing. After a lunch provided by church members, we began criss-crossing Budapest. The sites included Heroes' Square, the Christmas market in Vorosmarty Square, St. Stephen's Basilica, the Jegbufe Pastry Shop (yummy), a quick stop at the Parliament (where a sudden snow squall sent us running for shelter in the metro!), and then a more peaceful, less windy and snowy stop up at the Fisherman's Bastion, which overlooks the city. Having decided that we had walked enough and seen as much as we could squeeze in, we took the 4/6 tram toward Kalvin ter and our favorite restaurant, Soul Cafe. Finally a time to sit and relax. The cold weather really didn't deter us too much from enjoying the day. It's always encouraging to spend time with friends and share food and fellowship and dreams.
