May 19,2012 is a date we have been anticipating for a long time...ever since Dori and Zoli announced their engagement. We were excited to be included in not only the wedding but even Cindy was a part of Dori's lánybúcsú (bachelorette party). Scott and Judy VanderZwaag, Dori's host parents when she spent a semester as an exchange student at Holland Christian, arrived a couple of days before the wedding. We all traveled to Tata on Friday to help get things set up for the wedding on Saturday. We stayed at the
Hotel Gottwald a beautiful wellness spa and resort where the reception was held. We were able to take advantage of the facilities, relaxing most of Saturday while Dori and several friends had their hair and makeup done.
The wedding itself was in a small historic Reformed Church in Tata. It was beautiful, as you can see in the pictures below. We had a great time with all of the friends that we have made over the years through the Kovács and Verbó families. We feel like we're a part of their extended families. It was such a fun time! The dancing and eating and drinking lasted until 5 a.m. but we only made it until 3 a.m. It was great to experience all the Hungarian traditions that go with a Hungarian wedding.
Congratulations Dori and Zoli and thanks for letting us be a part of your wedding and lives.

Here is the "professional" Master of Ceremonies of the wedding. His stick has all the banners from all the past weddings that he has been the emcee. He made all announcements about anything that was going to happen with instructions about how to proceed--in Hungarian of course. Fortunately, many of Zoli and Dori's friends speak excellent English and they translated for us.
Toni and Anikó Kovács (Dori's parents) and Éva and Árpad Verbó (Zoli's parents) and Dori's grandma Gizella
